    So is that thing pre MIDI, or was that a MIDI protocol device?

    MIDI appeared in 82 (I believe), and this was 83, though I'm not exactly sure when the Fairlight was released. I don't think this had MIDI capabilities, but I'm sure someone could correct me.

    Yeah ... typewriters are awesome music making machines! Great for laying down a rhythm track!

    i wouldn't swear to it but IIRC it didn't have midi initialy... but was added later... i wanted one bad back in the day... well actually i wanted the synclavier... still would like one though current samplers are way better now...
