Loudness meter question

I'm adding a pair of loudness meters to my set up. My question is where to tie them in. My inclination is to tee them in at the two track mastering machine's input. But then I got to wondering if they should get tee'd to the two track machine's output. I guess its the same if the tape machine is set to monitor "input".

Thoughts?

I would put them in line with the monitoring amp/powered speaker inputs. This is the only spot where those meters are going to tell you how loud you're monitoring at, assuming they actually meter SPL?

Yes. Looking deeper into it, I will set it up that way but add an "A/B" switch to the mastering deck's output so saturation levels can be determined readily! Im looking forward to it!
