Is it possible to get a sync to the pro tools grid from a 8 track tape machine?
Here is basically my plans. Record drums on to tape playing from a click source generated by pro tools. Then I plan to import those tracks into pro tools to be able to mix and such.
I have when working with 2 inch just recorded the drums to a click and had that click track on one of the outside tracks and imported into pro tools and then did a beat detective tempo map on the imported click track and made my grid that way...but at home I dont have 6.7 yet where beat detective came into the picture.
So my questions is...how do I get the tape to sync to pro tools grid. I have read about midi clocks and stuff but I dont really understand. Can this all be done with an mbox.
Please be clear if you respond...I am just starting to get into tape after edit for a few years in pro tools and getting very sick of it. I however would still like to use pro tools for my mixing at home.
Thanks
