    Example of Tape Saturation

    Bob Dylan - Hurricane

Just took a closer listen of this song, and was a bit thrown for a loop with just how MUCH tape saturation is on this mix. I don't have the entire 'Desire' album, just this one song.

Like many, I dig the effects tape can have on a mix, but I'm going to have to say that this mix was a bit much on the saturation side. I felt like the saturation distorted the tracks to the point of squashing everything to an uncomfortable level. It has a definite effect (not so good) on the solo violinist licks.

Then again, it's Bob Dylan. Like he gave a crap.

Man, I think this is maybe his best sounding record from the 70's. Best sounding part is when they screw up the rhythm.

At the time, he was prolly too high to notice. Chances are that he's probably still to high to notice.

Probably insisted everybody must get stoned for the session.
