cheap mrls

anyone know of anyplace where you can pick up mrls for cheaper than getting them from mrl?

the over $100 for a 1/2" 456 tape just seems a bit steep to me. especially when this costs nearly as much as i paid for my recorder!

on that note, if anyone has said mrl for sale... tell .. me...

There's Project One AV in Burbank, CA,...

who got me about a ~15% discount on a 1/2" 31J229 for my Tascam 38.

A pro audio dealer gets dealer's discounts on MRL's, better than public prices, then it's up to him if he'll extend the discount to the off-the-street consumer. With the pressure that the pro media and audio-recording-specialty shops are feeling, lots of them are trying to sweeten the deals for the consumer, just as a basic survival tool.
