Broke my TSR-8's Spindle Fastener - Am I Screwed?

Hello, in place of asking another question because I know nothing, I decided to be an idiot and break my left reel spindle fastener on my TSR-8. I bumped into it and snapped the plastic that holds it tight when fastened. Now it's entirely loose, and goes out of control when being rewound, though it doesn't seem to bother the play for recording too much, at least visibly. Now, is this fixable? Can I buy another? Or did I just make a big mistake? Thanks All

Hi,

Do you mean the reel clamper, called a NAB reel clamper, it's removed by undoing the screw in the centre and just pulls off. I have replaced a few cracked clampers over the years.

When looking for an image I found this site

http://www.oaktreeent.com/Teac-Tascam_Stereo_Parts_Unit.htm

However Tascam may also have them in stock.

Cheers

p.s Dr Zee must have beaten me by a second, cheers

Alan

Thank you Dr. Zee and Alan, and yes, it must be the NAB clamper that I am talking about. Well, happy day, looks like there is redemption for my clumsiness after all!

Probably too late for the OP, but for anybody else, this is a stocked item at Tascam in CA. Typically less than eBay and fast, reliable service. Contact them at 323.727.4840 or at parts@teac.com.
