Ampex Reel to Reel

howdy, I have recently stumbled upon a 1963 Ampex ust-4, four track, reel to reel. I believe it uses 1/4 in. tape. Everything's in working order. Does anyone know anything about these suckers?

Not too familiar, but have you checked out the heads,capstans and rollers? Are they properly aligned?
Check out http://www.ampex.com . They've been in business since 1944 and they're first audio endeavors were into Recording technology.

This machine is probably in the 1250/1270 series - possibly the F-44 series I own a couple of these vintage machines and they still produce excellent recordings! If I can be of any assistance please contact me at : swanswan@pdai.com Thank you Swan
