Hi All.
Just wondering. Is it bad to use my TSR8 on a 45 degree angle?
something tells me yes - especially ff and rw. playing might be ok, but...?
reason being is i bought this rack thingy on wheels. im trying to neaten everything up in my new studio. on top of the rack there is a swivel rack shelf for a mixer. you have the option of having it horizontal or an angle up to 45 degrees. The only thing with it being horizontal is i cant see the meters.

The reel motors are least stressed with a deck that's laying flat on its back as that way there's no gravity/weight stress on the bearing. That said, there's also less stress on a motor driving 1/2" tape compared to driving one or two inch tape, which obviously weighs double and quadruple respectively.

When I had my 38, I had it set up very near flat on its back at maybe a 20 percent slope and low enough that I could see the meters and also no get in the way of the sound path from my speakers.

Cheers! :)
