424 MKII - transport controls not working

Hi, my Tascam PortaStudio 424 MKII is not working. It powers up and looks fine, but the transport controls don't work. I press play and there's a faint click, but nothing happens. Same with RW and FF. Is there supposed to be a belt on the black spindle part? The capstan shaft is not spinning. Cleaning mode no longer pushes the heads up. All the connectors on the inside are fast. Here's a picture of the cassette area:

I have gotten pretty attached to this machine and use it for all my recording. Does this sound like an easy fix or should I just say a prayer and remember the good times we had?

By the way, this just happened outta nowhere
 
If your capstan shaft isn't spinning,the belt could have broken or slipped off.You would have to get on the underside of the transport to check for this.
