Recording Mics Simultaneously on Seperate Tracks

I want to be able to record drums with about 8 different mics into my computer. I have a yamaha promix 01 back from 1994. Is there anyway for each individual track to show up at the same time on my computer using this mixer? I can't afford to buy compressors for each mic and so forth. I want to make up for the sound with plugins.

You will need a soundcard with at least 8 inputs, to be able to record 8 simultaneous tracks.
Check out a Delta 1010LT.

You could use a bus to apply a single compressor to multiple tracks.

also have a look at the EMU 1820, possible to have 8 analogue inputs and another 8 if you have ADAT/2 for SPDIF. Have just used it to record drums and using plug ins on separate drum tracks makes a massssive difference to the overall sound. Groovy indeed
