Lexicon lxp-5 factory reset?

Don't think that the LXP-5 keeps the original user banks on a chip anywhere. I think it's all volatile (i.e. - when you overwrite the original patch, then it's gone). Of course, the 64 presets can't be overwritten.

You can download the user manual here http://www.lexiconpro.com/Product_Downloads/lxp-5/LXP5.pdf Lexicon might be able to give you more info if you drop them an email. You might also be able to find a sysex dump of the original patches somewhere online.

Good luck!

How do I reload the user registers?

You must have the registers downloaded from another LXP-5 or some sort of SYSEX archiving device. We have the SYSEX info and a shareware program for MIDI ready Macintosh computers at our Compuserve forum (GO MIDIBVEN). If you do not have access to the Compuserve forum these files are available through Lexicon Customer Service. PLEASE NOTE: These programs are written by Lexicon product users and are not supported by Lexicon.

Following are the instructions on how to transfer the user banks from one LXP-5 to another:

PLEASE NOTE: STEP 5 WILL CAUSE THE DUMP TO OCCUR AND ERASE ANY MODIFICATIONS STORED IN THE TARGET UNIT!!

Before powering up your LXP-5, plug a MIDI cable from its Output to the MIDI Input of the target unit.

- Power up the target unit.
- Press and hold the LEARN button on your LXP-5 as you power it up. The LED will be off.
On your LXP-5, turn the FUNCTION knob to USER 8 and the ADJUST knob to MIN.
- Press the LEARN button on your unit and look over at the target unit. In a few seconds, the target LXP-5's LED will rapidly flash green to indicate that the dump was successful

Hope that helps. :)
