For Hip Hop...Rode NTK/Phoenix DRS-1 or RODE NTK Great River Mp1nv

I wish I was familiar with those mic pres so I could help you.

I'll be so glad when people who don't appreciate hip-hop shut the fuck up about it and quit acting like they are something that I'm not. You fucking snob.

No offense, ok?

He's right and he's wrong. But yea ignornace is rampant everywhere. But mainstream hip hop is total shit so i dunno if i can totaly argue. Most of the good underground stuff isn't listened to by 99 percent of hip hop listeners. The kind of people who think dr dre, eminem and jay z is good hip hop i mean.

lol Dre is one of the most talented music writers in the history of music
Jay Z is a lyrical genius(i'm not into his music, but dig beneath the surface, the guy is good)
and eminem the same thing...

and i barely listen to those cats, i'm into underground rap...

people have a lot of hostility towards hip-hop...but sh-t it's nothin new, the underdogs are always ridiculed and mocked

................and gettin' PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!

I think that you'd be equally happy with either of the options you mentioned.

But like cominginsecond said, I don't think it really matters. After all, it's not like you're actually making real music or anything. :D :D

lol...i'm not into chest thumpin'

but, post your favorite artists lyrics...a few lines, a whole verse...and i'll dispute it with something from hip hop equally as poignant!!!

Alright . . .

Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don't be afraid to care.
Leave, but don't leave me.
Look around, choose your own ground.
For long you live and high you fly . . .
And smiles you'll give, and tears you'll cry,
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

Run, Rabbit, run.
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done,
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one.
For long you live, and high you fly,
But only if you ride the tide.
And balanced on the biggest wave,
You race towards an early grave.

Sounds like someone knows how to represent the daily, futile struggles we face in life rather poetically.

How 'bout a corny love song?

all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

in your eyes
the light the heat
I am complete
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
the resolution of all the fruitless searches . . .

Any of your rapper boys able to express love in words like that?

chessrock, the underground people i listen to i wouldn't even call rap, and i listen to them pretty much just for lyrics. Very cererbral, i've never heard better lyrics in any style of music and listening to music is all i do. Stuff like i mentioned about, the infamous dr dre, is just total crap that people listen to because they don't know any better.

Come on fellas, this is an equipment forum not a music critic forum. Lets give the guy a break and help him choose a good preamp :)

These are some pretty good lyrics.

Eminem: Sing For The Moment

These ideas are nightmares to white parents

Whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings

Like whatever they say has no bearing, it's so scary in a house that allows no swearing

To see him walking around with his headphones blaring

Alone in his own zone, cold and he don't care

He's a problem child

And what bothers him all comes out, when he talks about

His fuckin' dad walkin' out

Cause he just hates him so bad that he blocks him out

If he ever saw him again he'd probably knock him out

His thoughts are whacked, he's mad so he's talkin' back

Talkin' black, brainwashed from rock and rap

He sags his pants, do-rags and a stocking cap

His step-father hit him, so he socked him back, and broke his nose

His house is a broken home, there's no control, he just let's his emotions go

* {C'mon}, sing with me, {sing}, sing for the years

{Sing it}, sing for the laughter, sing for the tears, {c'mon)

Sing it with me, just for today, maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away

Entertainment is changin', intertwinin' with gangsta's

In the land of the killers, a sinner's mind is a sanctum

Holy or unholy, only have one homie

Only this gun, lonely cause don't anyone know me

Yet everybody just feels like they can relate, I guess words are a mothaf**ka they can be great

Or they can degrate, or even worse they can teach hate

It's like these kids hang on every single statement we make

Like they worship us, plus all the stores ship us platinum

Now how the f**k did this metamorphosis happen

From standin' on corners and porches just rappin'

To havin' a fortune, no more kissin' ass

But then these critics crucify you, journalists try to burn you

Fans turn on you, attorneys all want a turn at you

To get they hands on every dime you have, they want you to lose your mind every time you mad

So they can try to make you out to look like a loose cannon

Any dispute won't hesitate to produce handguns

That's why these prosecutors wanna convict me, strictly just to get me off of these streets quickly

But all they kids be listenin' to me religiously, so i'm signin' cd's while police fingerprint me

They're for the judge's daughter but his grudge is against me

If i'm such a f**kin' menace, this shit doesn't make sense B

It's all political, if my music is literal, and i'm a criminal how the f**k can I raise a little girl

I couldn't, I wouldn't be fit to, you're full of shit too, Guerrera, that was a fist that hit you

[Repeat *]

They say music can alter moods and talk to you

Well can it load a gun up for you , and cock it too

Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude

Just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sued

See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols

And they want to get one cause they think the shit's cool

Not knowin' we really just protectin' ourselves, we entertainers

Of course the shit's affectin' our sales, you ignoramus

But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our checks in the mail

It's f**ked up ain't it

How we can come from practically nothing to being able to have any f**kin' thing that we wanted

That's why we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing

Except for a dream, and a f**kin' rap magazine

Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long

Idolize they favorite rappers and know all their songs

Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives

Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die

Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe

We're nothin' to you but we're the f**kin' shit in they eyes

That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it

Cause we consider these minutes golden

And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone

Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our songs and we can

[Repeat * , *]

It's not bad, but it would be a lot better if he wasn't trying to sound all thugged out and cool to boost his record sales. It's all marketing, that's the difference between underground and mainstream. It's not the popularity it's the style of music.

But i will admit those are a lot better than most of the complete crap i hear in mainstream stuff, ala 50 cent in da club. That guy can barely speak in fucking ebonics why is he on a song?

i'll post some lyrics when i get home...i have some ones that will really open your mind...stuff you've never heard...all from a street cat, with a very young age

i'm actually thinkin of maybe gettin a Summit 2ba-221 and a Grace 101...not sure what i'm goin to do yet
