Hey everyone....I have some qestions about MIDI......
I have a YAMAHA keyboard, an Alesis drum machine, a VF-16 digital recorder nad my computer. All are MIDI capable. I have used them all to record and have had no problems. I don't use any MIDI files though.
What can I do with all this MIDI capablity? Is there a reason I should hook it all up?
I will disect the manuals and try to understand what I might be able to do but, you may be able to save me some time in understanding what I might be able to do that will make recording easier.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks
Bruce

What can you do? Anything that your mind can imagine,
at least to a point.

You can Play piano Parts slow and play them back fast.
You can change the tempo anywhere, correct rythms,
transpose.
With a sequencer, even a dirt cheap (or free) one,
you can enter notes by step, one at a time slowly
with rythm not important, and have a lick sound like
its played by Chick Corea or Eddie Van Halen.

You can sync the drum machine and your keyboard
playing so they are super tight.
If your Keyboard is Multi-timbral (can play different
sounds at the same time,) you can get up to 16
parts out of it, and sound like a whole band.

You can play the drum Machine by hitting different
notes on the Yamaha Keyboard, and have a blast.

You can sound like A virtuoso classical pianist and
yet have almost no piano chops. If you can read
music, you can record amazingly difficult pieces
with ease.

You can learn more about music than you ever realized,
because you are in total control over it.

You can play a great performance on keyboards, but
missed a few notes. No problem, move them with the
mouse.
Want a big crescendo? Draw it in. Hit a note too
hard? draw it softer. Decide later that an F would
sound better then C? grab the mouse. Want to
here your tune Calypso Style? Use Style Enhancer.

Looks like you got some work to do this week,eh?
Go get some midi cables, dig out the Manuals, and
get crackin.Its a blast, David

Thanks Dave for all the info...
As you said, I have allot of work and experimentation ahead of me.....
Thanks
again
