Noob needs Midi controller help!!!

I am really frustrated with this whole process.. I just got a Behringer UMA25S midi controller but it doesn't work when it comes to playing the notes. I'm very new to this and I have no idea what to do.. Do I have to assign notes to the keyboard on the computer? I'm very new so detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated.

We'll need to know what your DAW is (Recording software) before anyone can tell you how to arm your tracks.
I can help you with Mixcraft and others can tell you how to use Cubase etc..
