Hey folks... I haven't posted here in a while, but now I need some help.
I need some advice on hooking up my midi equipment to my PC.
Here's the run down:
I have an Alesis QS8 (Synth/Keyboard) and an Alesis SR-16 (Drum machine). I will be using this in conjunction with Cakewalk (Pro Audio 8 for now, until I can justify a new version), and an SBLive! 5.1 on the PC for the MIDI interface.
What I want to be able to do is:
Record/Playback Midi tracks to the QS8, and have drum tracks played/recorded from the SR-16...
The way I figure it is to connect it as follows:
PC[Out] -> QS8[In]
QS8[Thru] -> SR-16[In]
SR-16[Thru] -> PC[In]
Is this sane?
Will it even work?
Last time I tried it I couldn't get it to work...
If anyone has any resources or anything they could point me to it'd be greatly appreciated.
