How to rip drum patterns from midi songs

hi there! i am not sure if this is possible...i have not done enough research on this stuff...hopefully you guys can help me....

i have some midi songs i have downloaded from this website freemidi.org


now my question is can i import these into pro tools 8 rip off the drum pattern then use addictive drums to make it sound more drum like? anyone have taken this route?

Or is there any other easier way to come up with drum pattern utilizing these midi song files?

Certainly.

In any sequencer you can select the midi you want, hit copy and paste into your project.

BTW: groovemonkee.com has a large package of freeebie midi drum parts; their stuff is pretty good, inexpensive and performed by real drummers, not programmed.

Also worth noting, GM midi tracks with have all the drums in midi channel 10 so you will need to dissolve the midi track into channels and just use channel 10. Note/instrument assignments are also standardized so as long as you have a GM drum voice for the target device, it will work fine.
