I got a Shure PG48 Microphone (discontinued) several years ago. I have never had a use for it until now. I want to use it as my PC mic, but my laptop doesn't have a jack for one. All that leaves is usb. However, I don't know if this mic will simply work if I buy an xlr to usb adapter. The mic might not even support it.
So I guess my question is, should I buy the adapter and try it? I also have an xlr to 3.5mm adapter already, so should I buy a 3.5mm to usb instead? Should I cut my losses and buy a cheap usb mic? Do I have any other options?

What do you intend to do with the mic? Singing, podcasting, simple voice recording, etc? What you get may somewhat determine the quality of the audio and additional features that may aid in what you are doing.
The XLR to USB adapter would likely work. A decent one could be up towards $50-$100US.
