Total novice - Help with mic please.

I have connected the mixtrack to the pc via usb connection and to an amp (with speakers) via RCA cable. looged into VDJ on pc.

The mic is now plugged into the mixtrack via the XLR to 1/4" jack cable.

I have sound from the decks from both speakers and headphones. (headphones plugged into mixtrack).

i have mic sound from the speakers (not overly loud) but not in the headphones.

I suspect the low level from the mic is due to the XLR-jack adaptor not being the transformer device I showed. I have used similar ones with a dynamic mic, SM57 into the mic inputs of a Teac open reel machine with good results. The transformer gives between 3 times and 10 times "free" boost (that's 10 to 20dB. Might as well start your edjukation!)

The reason you are not hearing the mic in headphones is I suspect because it is not routed properly, that "que mix" thing. Please note, I have had NO experience with that DJ deck nor any other come to that. I am just R'ingTFM!

You still have not said if you need the deck?

Hmm, I would download that VDJ software but I see it is NCH and they tend to bloat up your PC. I will grab it if absolutely necessary but would rather not.
