New NTK... Is something wrong ???

Hi all...

Just got my new NTK... And really excited... But!!!

There seems to be something loose in the mic.
It looks like a small tube shaped piece of foam or something in the grill, rolling around the diaphram... It's around 1/2 and inch long and a bit thicker than a pencil. The color is white.

Is it supposed to be there (for absorbing moisture or something)
Its my 1st LDC so I really don't know and dont want to turn the mic on incase there is damage...

Lot of cash, so I just wanna be sure.
Thanks...

...that sounds like the small foam piece that is supposed to be mounted (in a fixed position) atop the diaphragm capsule has come loose...
Open this link and click on the ad on the right to see a photo of the capsule construction (all the current Rode LDC mics share this construction):

...I would return the mic to the vendor asap...it probably wouldn't hurt to power up the mic, but what's the point...the mic needs to be replaced with a one that is not defective...contact your vendor as soon as possible and request a return authorization...
