advice on a condenser mxl v63m ??

I'd be using it for vocals. I just started out in the home recording thing using a TASCAM porta studio and a borrowed Samsom S+1 mic. I'd like to start taking small steps in upgrading and a good mic seems to be the best place to start. I thought about a sm58 or 57 but saw a good deal on this mxl mic.
any thoughts??
Also if I go with this mic I'll need a pre how are ART tube MP's??
