Hello forum. Hope this isnt annoying.

I bought a microphone20140118_202732.jpg20140118_202732.jpg
10 yrs ago from a dear friend. He is now very sick with cancer and i don't dare talk to him about it at the moment.
It is market with the db technologies logo and has a serial number on the back of db-560N. I cant find any info about it online........anywhere?!?!?!?!
I even contact the product specialist in Italy at db technologies and he has no ideas?
Apparently my friend had sent it to a guy from Australia to England to have a custom Tube put in it from a well redound guy - of whom i don't know!
The gold diaphragm tube condenser microphone has a separate power and tube supply black box and lovely black with gold cables and muti pin connectors....
any help would be great!!! It is a very well constructed mic and sounds amazing!! just got curious..
Thanks in advance.
George

Let's see ... What does it say along the bottom?
Open it up and let's get some pictures of both sides of the inside of that Microphone.

Thou it does look like a rebranded Chinese microphone.

How about a picture of the power supply, as well. Inside and out.

It looks like a Carvin tube mic

ebay. com/itm/CARVIN-CM98ST-multi-pattern-LDC-TUBE-mic-w-10db-pad-lo-cut-/271340621857?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Microphones&hash=item3f2d295021&nma=true&si=SUY3CQDtKpf2HZWvwj1XP1ihSkA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Thanks Guys - really appreciate the help - from the research ive done , It really does resemble the "CARVIN CM98ST multi pattern LDC TUBE mic w/10db pad & lo cut".......Some one has branded it with the dB technologies logo along its journey!!1 It was sent from Australia to England to be retubed years ago i found out from the guy i bought it from...so maybe the retuber has applied the fake DB logo??? Anyway - very gratfull for the assistance!!! Little bit dissapointed in knowing its only a cheap mic - i paid more for it than it was worth!!!! But i have been able to get some good quality sound so i guess that is the best part!! Cheers

If someone's gone to the trouble of re-branding it, perhaps there's been more work carried out?
It seems like an awful lot of hassle just because someone changed the tube?

I wonder could you find internal shots of this carvin and compare them to the insides of your own mic?

Yeah, it's a huge waste to send a tube mic overseas just get it retubed. You can do that in ten minutes at home with a screwdriver. I suspect if he sent it overseas more than a retube has been done.

Another thing is that dB Technologies is a PA company. They don't make mics that I'm aware of but they make some decent line arrays.

Cheers :)

I always thought that the headquarters was in Germany and imported through PA.?

dB Technologies make loudspeaker systems, and for a long time imported cheaper, more budget friendly OEM products. As they grew up, they moved away from this into proper own brand products and as far as I know have dropped the imports - so probably there is nobody left to identify the older OEM equipment.

Firstly, it does not look like it's been "re-branded" and it looks original.

If it looks like the Carvin it's either an OEM made by Carvin for dB Technologies - or - they purchased it from the same Chinese factory that Carvin bought theirs from.

Looking the same does not mean *being* the same - all it says is that the housing is the same.

On another forum where you posed the same question it was mentioned that Lavry used to be known as dB Technologies at one time and the logo on the mic. is certainly different from the current dB Technologies one.
