    Hi All,

I just thought I would share this with you.

    Validate Your Shure Product.

I am sure that other countries will be putting their own systems in place.

    Cheers

    Alan.

Alan ..... are those stickers on the box, paper work or on the microphones themselves?

Any mic you buy will be perfectly suited to your needs, until you use it long enough to learn that it's not.

It's not that clear, however I think the sticker will be on the mic.

    From the link you provided:

"As a result Jands is introducing a silver mylar identification sticker to the box of the Top 4 selling Shure wired microphones: SM58, SM57, BETA58A and PG58XLR."

That doesn't necessarily mean all Shure mics without the stickers are fake... it just means the ones coming from that particular distributor are authentic. They are simply slapping a sticker on a box.

How it works in Australia is that Jands are the wholesaler of Shure (and other products), Shure uses the Jands warehousing and distribution as there are not enough sales in Australia for Shure to have their own warehousing. Shure are not alone there as almost every brand coming into Australia has a wholesaler / warehouse, which unfortunately adds to the price. Jands do not sell direct to the public.

What Jands are doing is listing all serial numbers of Shure mics coming to them for distribution to shops, putting the identification sticker on the mics, then checking back to the serial numbers for people that have bought mics from retail outlets to ensure that the mics are genuine. This will help shure find out if any retailers are selling fakes. If you import mics on the net you take your chances.

This would also work in countries where shure has their own warehousing as shure could then do it themselves, don't be surprised if that is the next stage as the idea is a good one.

    Alan.
