okay, i have a small kit, im gonna get some mics for x-mas, so im gonna go with the simple straight foward, HQ setup to start(this is my first time getting mics)... so far the D-6 seems like a good mic to get, and im gonna get the SM57 for snare as per the many recomendations. i need some overheads, something that costs 200-300 max, for the two. some guy here said a pair of oktavas are $200, now he means $200 each right? if they are 200 for both, where would i be able to get them, which major online music store has them?

how are these?

and any other suggestions? im looking to get the best i can without going too professional. thanks for your help in advance...

IMO, the Oktava's MC-012's are better over-all drum overhead mics than the AKG 430's... the AKG 430's seem to pickup a little more (bright) cymbals as too drums than what I like.

EDIT: Typo

I don't know about the Marshalls..They could be terrible or they could be good..Maybe someone else can help you out..As for the O12's I know that The Sound Room www.oktava.com has them more cash though
