So what's the difference between a GE black plate triple mica 6072 and a GE 5-Star black plate triple mica 6072? Besides the little star marks?

On a related note, any thoughts on the GE 5965? Other than 3dB less gain, how does the sound compare? I bought several a while back for $2 apiece....

...to the best of my knowledge, the 5-Star tubes were consumer/commercial marketed, whiles the others were military issue (like the JG and JAN versions)...other than that I believe the tubes are of similar quality...

...the 5965/12AV7 tubes are often recommended for use in audiophile hifi preamps, but I've never seen them recommended for use in microphone circuits...best to search the website below for more information:
