CAD M37 circuit board

I removed the side covers from both of my CAD M37 mics and noticed that the circuit boards have "M177" etched on them. Both of the M37s are about 2 years old (long before the "new" M177 appeared). Is this just "planning ahead" on the part of CAD? - or is the M177 just a re-packaged M37 at a higher price?
 
If I remember correctly, they were both being sold simultaneously (My oldest M179s are almost 4 years old), the M37/39 being sold through Mars Music with a different capsule and body design. 1 inch vs. 1.1 inch.

Also, the M37 was sold with Global Audio (GA) badges for at least the early part of its lifetime, which suggests possibly Chinese assembly compared to the hybrid Chinese/US parts, US assembled M177/179. (I'm not sure if this is true...)
