CAD E--Good mic?

Anyone had any experience with this mic? where's it made, what's it comparable to ?

I might have a good deal on one? Please respond quickly , thanks, I'm buying it as a gift for a vocalist.

I've owned an E-100 for about 7 years....pretty nice mic for a lower budget model. I've used it primarily for vocals with good results. Having a Super-Cardioid pattern, it works very well with instruments for close-micing. I plan on using it for a kick drum mic in the future.

My experience lends to this opinion:

The vocals I recorded were brighter sounding, and lacked a little in "presence".
I ran the mic through an ART TubeMP which did help the sound a GREAT deal. If it will be used as a budget vocal mic, I highly recommend using a tube-preamp with it.

Thanks for the reply, warble, but you guys were slowpokes in making comments here (I know...T-bird and all that shit) so I went out and picked the mic up anyway.

But glad I did. Truly a great sounding mic at a very reasonable price, recorded some vocals last nite. I'm impressed. Great solidly built condenser mic, built in Ohio, it has a battery but needs phantom power anyway. One o' these days I'll get a Pre. Here I am answering my own question ... but based on my first impression I recommend to anyone out there looking for a $200-range pro mic. Thanks.
