What is the best mic for recording an operatic soprano voice in my price range(100-200 dollars)? I have another related thread on this topic pertaining to the mic I am currently testing, the Oktava MK 319. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... I only have 48 hours to exchange!

Small diaphragm mics - at a distance (2 to 3 feet) - usually work very well for sopranos. Any of the small mics usually discussed here will probably do a good job. Avoid the AKG C1000 if the soprano has an edge to her voice.

And if she's a "power soprano",you might try the Behringer ECM8000 at $35. An omni often works very well on loud opera singers, and you can get in a little closer (12 to 24").

Harvey, you beat me in the "cheap" department.

I had just remembered how good my wife's voice (soprano) sounds going through an Electro-Voice EV 635a omni dynamic.
