Of the three, which would be the most highly recommended for full warm vocals? And what advanatages does the transformerless version of the C414 have over the ULS version besides the extra 200 dollars?

Any help would be appreciated! thanks!

Sniper-X, you may also want to check out the C3 and T3 (tube) mikes from
Studio Projects as they are both multi-pattern and sound excellent per
end user's comments (they cost a lot less than the AKG's too!).

P.S. Due to the holiday weekend, the # of postings will be less than
normal, there are plenty of helpful people on this bbs!

I'm going to repeat someone else's comment (not verified with my own ears, so take it for what it is): he said, "While AKG touts the TL version as an improvement over the BULS for vocals, you might have a hard time convincing engineers of that, since many more hit songs have been recorded with the B-ULS than the newer TL -- but time will tell."

Personally, unless I got a GREAT deal on a used C414B-ULS right now ($500 or less in perfect condition), I think I would at least try the $229 Studio Projects C-1 FIRST, since there are some old pros comparing it favorably to the Neumann U87ai.

I'm sorry, I missed the rest of your question -- I think the KSM44 is in another class. To my ears, it's warmer and better-sounding than the AKGs.
