a friend of mine has a peavey escort 2000 p.a. system, it has 15v phantom power per channel, but the condenser mic that he wants to buy requires 48v phantom power. is that going to hinder him from using that mike? and if so, is there any kind of power convereter or anything that will allow him to use this mic with his p.a.?

He'll have to use an external phantom box that will supply up to 48v
Peavey, Horizon, CBI are just a few of the Companies that make single channel phantom supplies.

I had the same +15v problem with my Rane preamps. My AT4040, AT4047, SP-C4, and MXL V67M all sounded like ass.

I added a rack mount Rolls Phantom Hex +48v supply that I bought used from eBay. All the difference in the world. This one is a 6 channel, 14mA per channel device. My Countryman Type 85 DI loves it.
