Anyone have any experience with any of those video tape lessons? Do they help, or are they worth the money. Like Yngwe Malmsteen or somebody?

    Cool

I would go with Rik Emmett's Star Licks video. It's a bit dated, but he is a virtuoso in so many styles, you can't help but benefit from it.

Do an internet search for "guitar lessons". There are many resources on the net that are both informative AND free, and give you access at your convenience.

I had Metal Method from Doug Marks. Like it said, it is metal. He teaches basic chords like power, barre, open, 7th, etc.

He teaches scales in all positions (I didn't like his method)

    He teaches about modes.

But it's all geared towards metal.

I'd get a real teacher so you can learn what you want.
