Strat Bridge Mod: Can this be done?

I want to reverse the action of my Strat's tremolo bridge so when I swing the arm up over the pups and press down, it pulls the strings.

I've practiced holding the bar while strumming and pulling up but I don't get the finnese I need. Lots of practice may do it, but not so far - I keep pulling too much.

I've thought of repositioning the arm to the front of the bridge, leaving it to hang straight back past the tail, which might work, but would look awkward.

What? You mean point the term arm backwards towards the rear of the guitar and press it with the inside of your elbow? Bizarre, but could work I suppose?

Gonna have to practice and change your playing technique. The trem itself won’t work backwards as designed. Its a fulcrum point and a lever. Push down on the lever and the bridge lifts.... strings go slack
So no it can't be done.

?

OK I'll retire the thought of doing this to my Strat. Maybe I'll get me a beater copy and experiment on that.

Thanks for your feedback ?
