Yeah, maple would be sweet. Custom shop special order maybe? Gibson calls that color Pelham blue. What does Fender call it? For that matter what do they call that model?
 
I was never one for a blonde neck. I've always gone with the brunette.
It would look really nice with the same Ebony fb that I have on my Ripper, blacker than the paint. But, I don't think you can get that kind of Ebony anymore.
 
I do have a few blonde necks but they seem a bit slippery to me.
A brunette neck you can actually feel the string to the fret board as you dig in.
 
I can feel the difference, but its a small factor to me. Cosmetically, I like maple boards. I just don't own any.
 
That bass would look good on say Pino Presti, but Frank Bello might get laughed at if he showed up with that.
 
I only have one bass - a cheapo with a rosewood board. On guitars I have 'em all. I like ebony best, then maple and rosewood last but they're all good. Looks-wise maple is just sweet with almost any finish.
