On my acoustic guitar, when playing an upbeat finger-style similar to Gordon Lightfoot’s “Did She Mention My Name”, my G string is… I can only describe it as thunky.
It’s barely noticeable to the naked ear, but it’s definitely noticeable when recorded. In fact, on any fret or string that plays that same octave of G, the sound is thunky. I suspect it’s the guitar itself, more than mic placement (which I’ve played with), and I am not versed in things like intonation adjustments and such on an acoustic.
So would anyone happen to know of an EQ trick or other processing that would keep it down a bit on the recording?
