first time changing out a nut. from plastic stock to graphite.
I'd give this DIY ..(with 10 being easiest)
8 = Cheap, Easy and Quick

The nut I got was an ALLPARTS Graphite from GuitarMartCenter for a Strat/Tele. $6.99. a precut and it aligned great for my 51 Squier that came stock with a plastic nut.

just thought I'd post this for anyone thinking about trying this DIY too.

took pre-measurements, read some threads...

the guitar hung throughout the operation.
1) scored each side with a xacto type tool, to help free the old nut & cut thru the clearcoat.
2) placed a small tip screwdriver and tapped it very gently with a small hammer to pop-up the nut.
3)remove the old nut....
4) then sanded and measured the new nut, sanded and measured and installed and measured and repeated..dab of glue...soon it was done. New nut firmly in place.

About 25 minutes.
