Electro-acoustic: DI required?

Does an electro-acoustic (mine's a Yamaha APX-6a) with built in EQ, sweep, etc., require plugged into a DI box before hitting a PA, or does the guitar's built-in preamp itself cover the DI aspect?

I've seen an Award-Session AP-10 (GG10) going for 50 bux. Anyone used one?

Cheers, all
Robin.

A DI is not 100% necessary. With an active pickup running an unbalanced guitar line, the longer the run is the more chance for noise.
The preamp boosts the signal up to line level, which isn't the same as a DI. (Unless it has a low-z XLR out?)

Sometimes running a DI with a mic cable is just easier, in any case. I've got lots of 30' mic cables, but no 30' guitar cables, for instance.

Hey, B'man. How gowz it?

So it's just a noise issue then, as opposed to sound. Alrighty. Thanks, man, for your ever encouraging replies!
