I keep seeing this in new PC ads as "additional" memory???? Educate me on this please. Seems like it's supposed to "speed up" normal hard drive to the point where it's comparable to an SSD??? What's the deal?

When i see things like that, I always think of the Turbo-Encabulator.
There's a good video on it.
It's not memory, although that won't stop people advertising PCs with 24gb memory instead of the 8gb that they really have, or whatever.
That's exactly it.
It's flash based fast storage set up as a cache drive along side your larger, slower, spinning drive.
It stores and accesses frequently read small files.
At a glance I think I'd rather just get a big enough SSD.
