I was looking at both recorders and wanted to know the differences in the features, does the original have a repeat loop?

Dragon used to have a review of the MKII which compared it in some detail with the original. It may sill be on the site somewhere, and if not, I'm sure he'd be happy to email it to you. The good news for you is that the prices of the 424MKII have dropped so much that you should just get that. It is definitely better, I just can't recall if it was the EQ section, the inputs (balanced) or something else... You can get the MKII for about $200 (check out ebay.com) which is half of what people (like myself!) paid for it a little over a year ago. If you were looking to pay as much as $400, however, you should consider going digital since you will add editing capabilities that are impossible on a 4-track. --Mark
