Personally, the 600 series is probably 10 times the desk that the Spirit is. The 600 has a wamer, higher gain, cleaner preamp, more EQ that sounds much more musical than the Spirit, it's modular, and it's easy to maintain and get parts for. It truly is a midlevel professional console, well I view the Spirit as a low level artist/musician console. Both consoles however are capable of producing good results, it's just that the Spirit will take a lot more knowhow and time.
 
I am a true console lover and have worked on many different consoles. If I were to go out to buy a console today out of the two choices you gave me, the Soundcraft 600 is the one I would get. Even if it was in need of repair. I personally would not pay more than about $200 USD for a Spirit.
