sony digital camera ... lol not spam

most consumer electronics aren't easily serviced by the consumer. i'd either take it back to the store or call sony's customer service.
 
I'm not sure, but is there a setting where you can turn off the screen so it saves more power,
by looking through the eyepiece to take photos than preview photo comes up on the screen like a SLR camera would?
She well as might of accidently set it to that, have a look in the manual to see if such setting exists.

If not as heroics suggested call sony's customer service or take it back to the store you got it.
 
well it actually kinda works but then doesnt

it comes up all crappy
with a bunch of white lines all over the screen
then when i try to go to the menu the screen just goes completelty white
