If I knew what I was looking for I'd do my own search, but....

I'm looking for a stripped-down digital recorder that goes straight to disc...no little cards, chips, or anything I have to run through my computer; just 2 stereo inputs any necessary level/pan controls, and out pops a finished CD. I've seen the complete 'SIAB' packages with CD burners, but I don't need anything that involved. I've also seen some of the little 2-channel palm deals, but they don't record to disc.

The plan:
acoustic drums ---> analog mixer ---> 2-ch recorder that spits out CDs.
Is there such a toy?

your in luck...there's a town about three miles that way. I'm sure you'll find a couple of guys there.

The Alesis MasterDisc would be another option. There are tons of units like this to choose from. HHB and Sony make units like this, as do Marantz and Tascam as well.
