Hello all, I’ve been stuck on this problem for the past week now, and it is just the most frustrating thing. So I bought an akai mpd218 recently, and I just can’t figure out how the pads work. When I load up the fpc and choose a preset, all the pads on my controller don’t work, it’s like I press my bottom right pad and on the fpc screen, a random pad in the middle lights up. I’m so frustrated and I just can’t figure out how to fix it. Please help.

The MPD218 is a nice unit.

Follow the USB installation instructions. Restart.

MPC Essentials is what you want. Click the C:/ prompt area. The samples are in the " Elements of Dystopia/ UK Dance/ House etc. that are included. Scroll to one of the supplied kits tagged *.xmp. It will load them to the appropriate pads.

The MPD editor will fix the pad assignments.

Sometimes there is a small error in the startup settings file. Causing errors like, pads 8 + 12 will trigger the same note / pad in the MPC Essential software. You can correct this yourself by following these steps.

Start the MPD218 editor and go to FILE> LOAD HARDWARE. (select slot 5).
Now select PAD 12 and change the note value from 44 to 43.
Then -> File -> SAVE as -> give it a desired name.
And finally FILE -> SEND TO HARDWARE. (to slot 5).
