Headphones for £100

Hi,

I have £100 to spend on a pair of headphones. I would like them for studio mixing and recording, although I know that for mixing you need open and for recording you need closed. Does anyone know of a good pair that would be a good compromise??

I have considered the following:

AKG 271
Sennheiser 280 Pro

Any other suggestions welcome. I am pretty reluctant to spend more that £100.

Thanks,

E

Tex speaks with veracity about using cans for mixing; however, for 149 USD and "free shipping" here in the colonies, you might consider a pair of the new Audio Technica 50 cans.

I have a set of them, although I prefer my Beyer cans which are also in your budget. The Audio Technica cans seem brighter and are comfortable on the noggin. [Seems to me that cans went up about 20% lately.]

If you mix with cans you may or may not get some good results. But, you need to do what you need to do.

If you ever get to a stage and want an excellent pair of monitors, give a listen to the Adam A7 boxes--just got them and they are very CLEAR. Enjoy mixing on them.

Cheers,
