recording electronic drums

hello. i'm new here. its my first post.

anyway!
i have a set of electronic drums... i dont know much about recording and i don't really have any recording gear. except i have a lap top with cubease and a pod XT that i use for gutiar/bass.

but... how can i record electronic drums?
i tried just plugging them into my computer but that doesn't work so well. they distort really easily when i record. and if i decrease the volume to the point where it doesn't distort, they end up being too quiet.

i thought of maybe trying to run them through the pod XT on like an acoustic setting. i have no idea if it would work and haven't tried it.. might not work at all since its meant for guitar / bass.. i dont know

anyway! if anyone knows how i can record the drums without having them distort on the recording, please let me know!!! THANKS

If you're trying to use the stock sound card in your laptop that's what causing the problem. Upgrading to this or this would be your best shot.

And welcome to the board!

yeah... i am using just the stock sound card.

damn, i didnt want to buy anything! haha. but thanks, i'll look into one of those!
