Maybe my car stereo is on the fritz. The other day I was on a drive and heard "Eye in the Sky" by Alan Parsons Proj. Nevermind that the guy is a recording engineer god to some, but how did they do it? Those drums sound so dang smooth, live and airy, yet somehow . . . . muffled! Especially the snare. Like a big thick, cotton towel. I don't expect anyone to know the wiz's exact secrets, but " How does something muffled sound so good and . . . ALIVE! Maybe it was just a brief moment of insanity, or maybe it was because my bladder was about to burst, but any of you who have means, listen to it and let me know what you think. Being a newbie, I'm thrilled to death when I get any kind of "alive" sound recording, so maybe I'm just too easily impressed.?
