My drummer is thinking about getting one of these units and putting trigger pads on his acoustic drums for recording, my question is would you get alot of bleeding when you used mics for the cymbals and overall does anyone have any opinions on the D5 with recording??
Thanks,
Russ

I use an Alesis DM5 in my studio, and I love it. My only complaint is that the cymbals are not real enough. If you are going to trigger the unit with live drums, you will get bleed of the real drums through your overhead. You should be able to place your mic's for minimal bleed- then you can EQ the most of remaining drums out of your overheads. Once you bring the levels of your DM5 drums up in the mix, it should blend in with your live tracks.

Another idea is to use your real drums sounds and mix in the DM5 sounds to compliment them.
