simian drum sound

Anyone have any thoughts on the techniques used to get this great drum sound(from simians first album chemistry is what we are).....im guessing its got a lot of compresssion and side chaining......anyone ?

Sounds like most of it is just the sound of the kit, with some compression obviously. The ride cymbal could be an overdub, or just a very closely miced live one with a side chain from the kick to make it pump. Nice
