Hi.

As per the heading, the motor on on Porta One is always running!

Is this normal? I can't see how this is?

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

Well, after some googling, I found out I had asked this question in 2012!

It was established that the motor should not always be running.

Any idea where I should be looking? I can see some leaf switches and a servo inside, but cannot see how these might work with the motor.

Thanks for any help. I did some comparisons to my Tascam DP-06 and have to say that I actually thought that although the DP-06 was a little clearer, the Porta One sounded hotter and more powerful somehow. Might also have been my guitar playing too!

In general,...

One microswitch is usually for the "cassette in place" signal that starts the motor spinning, & the other microswitch is usually the "write enable/protect" sensor (senses the little punch-out tabs).

It could be that the 'cassette in place' microswitch is maladjusted to be always "on", (depressed).

This is just off the cuff info & I don't have a PortaOne or manual in front of me, but many Tascam Portastudios are very similar.

:spank::eek:;)
