Tascam 788 update from 1.02 to 2.02: Do I NEED to replace the EPROM?

I have a similar recent thread running.
A lot of views but no responses.
So let's try this.

I have a line on a low mileage 788 that is version 1.02.
I'm thinking of getting it as a back up.
The price is reasonable, but before I spend the money, I want to know what REALLY needs to be done to upgrade it.

I have had a 788 for the last 15 years or so.
I also have the CDR-788 drive (NOT the CDRW-788).
The drive was updated many years ago with the firmware to enable it to use the larger (at that time) CDs.

My 788 was up dated to 2.02.
I went through my notes and other stuff yesterday.
I usually keep pretty good notes and documantation on stuff.
EPROM: FWIW, I'm pretty sure that I replaced the old EPROM at the time, but I can't find it (not that it matters at this point).
Disks: I have a 1.10 upgrade CD.
I have a 2.0 CD and instructions.
I have a 2.02 CD and instructions.

Nowhere in the instructions for 1.10, 2.0 or 2.02 that I have does it say anything about replacing an EPROM.
I have looked at the Tascam web site as well as a couple of other places on the internet.
The instructions and flow are kind of hazy.

Does anyone recall if at some point Tascam was able to do away with the EPROM swap and do all of the upgrades from CDs?
If yes, then do I have everything I need?

Or am I basically dead without that EPROM replacement?

Thanks in advance.
