So ive seen quite a few threads on here related to the subject of he 488. Ill just jump into my little nitemare story.
I got mine yesterday, used it worked fine including the pitch shift, and all functions. Then today i used it, recorded and functioned perfectly until i attempted to pitch shift and then the tape speed began to fluctuate on the very slow end. As far as i can tell rew and ff functions at full speed. Now tapes are slowing till the point the machine stops it.
Im a noob here for sure but ive read cleaning the pots/replacing the belt/ cleaning heads rubbers and etc can do the trick.
My question is how can i tell if this is a more expensive problem to fix vs. The reletivly more painless and cheaper solutions in the previous paragraph.
Sending it off isnt economically viable right now fwi.
So if you have any words of wisdom/ willing to explain the cleaning process in more detail youd really brighten my day.
