Tascam 38: Odd Problem

LostOnTheSide

Hello All,

I have a 38 that I have kinda gotten up and running with the help a friend. All the cards are working, and I put a belt on it, and we have gotten the capstan and Fwd/Rwd motors going. To get there we had to solder a few spots on the Control Board. The problem now is that when Fast Forward or Rewind is engaged, the capstan/pinch roller also engage. I don't know if we created the problem with a poor soldering, or if there is a short somewhere. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem, or have any ideas where the problem may lie.

Edit: to be clearer, the capstan solenoid is being engaged (as though the machine was in "Play"), when I press either FF or RW. The pinch roller does disengage when in "Play", if I press "Pause", though (like it is supposed to). Somehow, a charge is getting to the capstan solenoid when I put the machine in FF or RW.

Here is a photo of the board, with the areas that were soldered, indicated. I have close ups too, if needed...
Thanks!
